Throw a Best Bones Forever! Halloween party!
Planning a Halloween party or a sleepover? Check out these ideas for yummy snacks and activities.
How to decorate:
Getting your house ready for the holiday doesn't have to cost a lot! You can even use things you may already have around the house:
- Crumple up a piece of tissue paper into a ball. Place it in the center of a flat piece of tissue. Pick up the corners of the flat tissue and twist it around the ball. Tie a twist tie or a piece of string around the "ghost's" neck, and decorate a face with a felt pen. Hang these with yarn all around the house.
- For a darker room in the house, you can place bowls of "body parts" for guests to feel. Cut up hot dogs to make severed fingers, fill a bowl with grapes for eyeballs, and have a plate of cold, cooked spaghetti noodles to represent a brain.
- Spread some pretzels under the rug to sound like crunching bones when your guests walk over them!
- As an alternative to pumpkins, cut out the tops of several large green, red, and orange peppers and hollow out the center. Then carve scary and funny faces in the peppers to greet your guests. You can paint the tops black to make pointed witches' hats.
What to eat:
- Use a pumpkin, bat, ghost, or other ghoulish cookie cutter to cut shapes out of soft flour or corn tortillas and bake them until crispy. Top with low-fat cheese.
- Make "boo-berry" smoothies with blueberries, yogurt, and milk. Mix in blender for one minute. Yummy!
- Serve "pumpkin" punch with calcium-fortified orange juice and ginger ale.
What to do:
- Hold a pumpkin carving contest—use the "exskullmation" point for inspiration! Have your mom post your favorites on our Facebook page.
- If you're having a sleepover, make sure you have lots of scary movies and snacks ready!
