ATF Offers Reward in Gun Store Burglary

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Kansas City Field Division and the Des Moines Police Department announced today ATF is offering a reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a gun store burglary.

Following a report of an alarm, the Des Moines Police Department was dispatched to Jack Smith Gun Sales, located at 2828 Hubbell Ave., at 4:03 a.m. on Mar. 19. A total of 15 handguns were stolen during the burglary.

On the same date, at 4:05 a.m., the Des Moines Police Department was notified of an alarm at Liberty Bank, located at 2742 Hubbell Ave. Approximately $40 in coins were taken during the burglary. Investigators have not yet confirmed that the two incidents are related.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by ATF and the Des Moines Police Department. Anyone with the information about the incident is urged to call ATF at 1-800-ATF-GUNS or the Des Moines Police Department at 515-237-1314.
