(Washington, DC) -- Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz made the following statement today regarding the speech by President Bush before the Israeli Knesset:
“The comments by President Bush at the Israeli Knesset are beyond outrageous.
“To stand before the government of Israel and insinuate that Democrats are akin to those who tried to appease Hitler shows that the President is apparently ignorant of history.
“The President should know that his virulent and false assessment is even more dangerous than the worst partisan politics.
“The President also stated: There are good and decent people who cannot fathom the darkness in these men and try to explain their words away.’ The President need not lecture Jews, nor African Americans, about evil. We have a firm and personal understanding of what real evil is and what it is capable of.”
