Lamborn Views Photos of Deceased Osama bin Laden

Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, viewed photos of the deceased Osama bin Laden.  He released the following statement:

“The photos show very starkly and graphically that Osama bin Laden is dead. It is one thing to hear that, but it is another thing to see it with your own eyes. The photos show very clearly that Osama has met his end.

“It brought me closure. I believe the Administration should consider releasing the least graphic of the photos because it could bring closure for the victims’ families, and for all Americans.

“Secondly, it shows the world that Osama bin Laden’s narrative of America being the ‘weak horse’ was totally false. It took us a long time, but America doesn’t give up. We will bring justice to those who seek to do us harm.

"Seeing the photos was very sobering, and I do not take this decision to call for their release lightly. Although there are legitimate views on both sides, on balance, I think that more good is done by releasing a photo than by not." – Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

Note: Congressman Lamborn viewed the photos at the CIA Headquarters in Langley, VA. The CIA has made several photos of the deceased Osama bin Laden available to Members of the House and Senate Armed Services and Intelligence committees.
