Baltimore Felon Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Possessing a Gun and Ammunition
Baltimore, Maryland – U.S. District Judge Catherine C. Blake sentenced Dallas Williams, age 26, of Baltimore, today to 15 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a gun and ammunition. Judge Blake enhanced Williams' sentence upon finding that he is an armed career criminal based on three previous drug convictions.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Acting Special Agent in Charge Ashan Benedict of the ATF - Baltimore Field Division; Acting Police Commissioner Anthony Barksdale of the Baltimore City Police Department; and Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein.
According to his plea agreement, on January 24, 2010, Baltimore Police officers arrested Williams in the 1900 block of Frederick Avenue in Baltimore pursuant to a state arrest warrant for reckless endangerment and attempt to elude police. At the time of his arrest, officers seized a loaded .38 SPL revolver from Williams, along with.38 SPL cartridges.
Williams was previously convicted of a felony and prohibited from possessing a gun and ammunition.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the ATF, Baltimore City Police Department; and Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office for their work in the investigation. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorney Debra L. Dwyer, who prosecuted the case.
