Meeks Lauds Passage of Resolution Recognizing Low Presence of Minorities in the Financial Services Industry

Washington, DC - The U.S. House of Representatives today overwhelmingly voted to pass H.Con.Res. 140, a resolution recognizing the low presence of minorities in the financial services industry, and minorities and women in upper level positions of management.  The resolution also expresses the sense of the Congress that active measures should be taken to increase the demographic diversity of the financial services industry.

“H. Con. Res. 140 calls upon both the public and private sectors of the financial services industry to recognize that there is untapped human talent that could benefit the financial services industry in America.  There is no greater business resource than human capital.  In this increasingly globally competitive environment we must maximize the potential of all our citizens if we are to maintain global leadership,” said Rep. Gregory Meeks, the author of the resolution.”
