Washington, Apr 6, 2010 - Congressman Roscoe Bartlett announces a location change for his Garrett County Staff Outreach Hours on Wednesday, April 14 due to a fire at the previous location.

Rep. Roscoe Bartlett’s District Assistant, Brenda Frantz, as well as Susan Knisley, Representative, from the State of Maryland Veterans Affairs Department, will hold Staff Outreach Hours at the VFW Post 10077 located at 4107 Maryland Highway, Deer Park, Maryland 21550-6458 on Wednesday, April 14, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.  To schedule an appointment with Rep. Bartlett’s representative, please call toll free at 1-800-889-3012.  To schedule an appointment with the State Veterans Affairs Department representative, please call 301-759-5252. Walk-ins for both Rep. Bartlett and the State Veterans Affairs representatives are welcome.

Congressman Bartlett said, “I’m relieved that no one was injured as a result of the fire last night at the American Legion Post in Oakland, Maryland.  I want to thank the 100 firefighters from the 10 different companies who responded so quickly and worked together to put out the fire and limit the damage to the building and its contents.  These fire fighters are volunteers and they’re all heroes. Firefighters devote long hours to training and service on duty and on call, but we often only see them when there’s an emergency like last night.  I am grateful for these heroes who contribute so much to protect us.”

Congressman Bartlett added, “I am also grateful to the leadership and members of the VFW Post who stepped in to offer their Post in Deer Park so that Garrett County residents planning to meet with my staff on Wednesday, April 14 can still do so.”

Ms. Frantz said, “I will be in Deer Park at the VFW Post on the morning of Wednesday, April 14 to make it more convenient for Garrett County residents to get assistance from Congressman Bartlett if they have a question about a federal government policy or are experiencing a problem with a federal program or agency."
