Florida’s innovative Blue Alert system has been called a “model for federal bill.” Last spring, I supported passage of the National Blue Alert Act of 2012, but this vital legislation has since lain dormant in the Senate. Speeding the appreh...ension of violent criminals who threaten further harm to law enforcement officers and our community is a non-partisan matter of public safety. We cannot expect our nation’s economic problems to be solved through central government, top down approaches. Growth will occur first in our local communities and small businesses, and then expand throughout our country, if we provide the tools and solutions to achieve this goal.
