Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

Funds will be used to provide substance abuse prevention services to youth and their families through education, early intervention and programming for first time juvenile substance abuse offenders.

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

Buena Vista Township is in the midst of a downtown revitalization effort, but is still challenged by high crime.  The purchase of three additional police cruisers and equipment will allow the police department to better patrol the streets and respond more quickly to emergency calls.

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

Funds will go to the Saginaw Police Department’s Neighborhood Passive Observation Digital Surveillance Camera System to reduce incidence of crime.

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the State of Michigan’s Region III Homeland Security Subdivision is seeking to consolidate law enforcement and correctional records, data, information and intelligence among Region III’s Sheriff’s agencies and corresponding correctional facilities. 

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

The Human Development Commission Generations program is a before/after school and summer program targeted to economically disadvantaged children or those at-risk of failure in school in grades K-5.  Generations brings together kids, seniors and teens for activities including drug and crime prevention and awareness, educational instruction, community service, 21^st century technology and school success. 

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

This meritorious program will assist and support young women as they age out of foster care services and transition into independent adulthood.  Research shows that young women are most vulnerable during the 18 months after exiting foster care and at-risk for dropping out of school, engaging in prostitution, and being victimized by domestic violence and sexual assault.  The YWCA will provide a solid support system comprised of both adult mentoring and peer-to-peer support.

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

This project allows for the purchase and implementation of permanent programmable electronic roadway signs that will warn motorists of dangerous driving conditions on I-475.
