House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued a statement in response to the September survey of small businesses by the National Federation of Independent Business. The NFIB report confirms the results of two small business surveys independently released last week by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the nonpartisan Common Good. All three organizations report small businesses are losing momentum and do not expect to hire.

“This is a grim report. Under President Obama’s policies, small businesses continue to lose ground,” Graves said. “Most small business owners don’t plan to hire or make major investments. The country needs robust growth, and job creators need tax and regulatory relief for that to happen. Small businesses are facing an uphill climb in this economy, and a fluctuating monthly jobs report doesn’t change this reality. We’re seeing few signs of a real recovery. Let’s stop the tax hike, and provide small businesses with certainty that their government isn’t going to stand in their way, so they can feel confident and hire again.”

House Republicans have passed more than 30 job-creating bills that the Senate has so far ignored. House Republicans have a plan that will help small businesses hire and grow.
