Congressman Black Honors Joi Wasill of Hendersonville with Angel in Adoption Award

WASHINGTON –  Congressman Diane Black (R-TN) honored Joi Wasill of Hendersonville, Tennessee this week in Washington, DC with the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s (CCAI) Angel in Adoption Award for her outstanding advocacy of children and adoption issues.

“Joi is a remarkable lady, dedicated to protecting the life of the unborn. She has given so much of her time and energy to advocating for children in each of your roles as a teacher, adoptive mother, and director of Decisions, Choices, and Options (DCO). Joi founded DCO with her own personal funds, because she felt strongly that there was an unmet need for our teens to know the truth. There is no telling how many lives she has touched and saved. It was an honor to nominate and present Joi with the Angles in Adoption Award.” said Congressman Black.

Joi currently serves as the Executive Director of “Decisions, Choices & Options, Inc.” a 501c3 educational nonprofit based in Hendersonville, Tennessee.  Since 2002, DCO has provided classroom training and prevention education to over 40,000 high school students on the topic of teen pregnancy and abstinence. She is a former high school teacher at Hendersonville High, and she and her husband Bill, are the proud parents of a 12 year old son and the owners of a local small business.

Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute & Angels in Adoption Program:

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent, safe, and loving homes through adoption.  CCAI’s goal is the elimination of the barriers that hinder these children from realizing their basic right of a family.

The Angels in Adoption program is CCAI’s signature public awareness campaign and provides an opportunity for all members of the U.S. Congress to honor the good work of their constituents who have enriched the lives of foster children and orphans in the United States and abroad. CCAI does not receive any government funding and they rely on the generous support of foundations, corporations, and individuals to accomplish their mission.  For more information visit www.ccainstitute.org and www.angelsinadoption.org.
