The Forest Service firefighters are the best trained and the best
equipped firefighters in the world. Even so, we need the talents
and sheer person-power of our partners to fight fires, and to enhance
the resources through fuels reduction projects.
With many jurisdictions in the country susceptible to wildland
fire, cooperative agreements outline how the Forest Service will
respond in providing mutual aid and cost effective fire protection
for public lands and surrounding communities, especially those in
the wildland/urban interface.
The Forest Service also has a variety of programs to help State
and rural firefighters enhance their departments with equipment,
training and communications.
