2.0 Site Status Summary

This facility was a former conventional uranium milling facility located in San Juan County, Utah approximately 30 miles southeast of Moab, Utah. Project Manager: Loren Morton

Submittal Date of the Decommissioning or Reclamation Plan: 03 September 2002 and supplemental information 01 March 2004. Approval Date of the Decommissioning Plan: 06 July 2004, (NRC Docket No. 40-8084) License or Regulatory Status: Active License This facility began operation in May 1972 and operated relatively continuously until January 1989, under NRC license SUA-1119. The facility operated under this NRC license prior to August 2004, when Utah gained Agreement state status for regulatory oversight of Uranium Mill tailings from the NRC. The Radioactive Material License (RML) authorized unlimited quantity of natural uranium. Currently the licensee is conducting reclamation activities preparing for license termination. The current owner is Rio Algom Mining, LLC, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In January 2008 the Licensee submitted an application request for Indirect Change of Control regarding RML UT19000481. The status of this request is on hold awaiting transaction closing between Billiton Investment 15 B.V. and Uranium Resources Inc. which involves reviews and/or approval of other federal and state agencies. The only activity at the site is reclamation activities. There are no structures and the radioactive material has been disposed in the two tailings embankments that have final cover. The reclamation activities should be completed by July 2008. Once the final runoff control features are complete, the licensee will follow up with a completion report and supporting information for license termination. Groundwater Alternative Concentration Levels (ACL's) were approved by the NRC prior to Agreement state status.
