    REWARD: The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Gautam Gupta.

    Dr. Gautam Gupta is wanted in Chicago, Illinois, for his alleged involvement in several white collar crimes. The indictment alleges that Gupta, the owner of a chain of medically supervised weight-loss clinics, or members of his staff acting at his direction, submitted claims to both the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance Company and the Illinois Medicaid program for unnecessary procedures or procedures which were never performed. The complaint indicates that during the time frame of June 2001 through January 2010, the Nutrition Clinic was paid approximately $25 million for claims submitted on behalf of clinic patients.

    On June 13, 2011, a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court in Springfield, Illinois, after Gupta was charged with the following crimes: 7 counts of mail fraud; 2 counts of health care fraud; and 1 count of conspiracy.
