This position is located in the Branch of Grounds, Division of Maintenance, Rock Creek Park, National Capital Region. The incumbent removes rocks, leaves, trash and debris from landscaped and natural areas; prepares soil for planting, seeding or sodding turf; plants, transplants and provides follow-up care on trees, shrubs and lawns; cuts grass and trims hedges; digs ditches and trenches; performs simple grading and sloping; works as grounds helper for tree crew; performs snow and ice removal duties; works on sanitation crews picking up and disposing of trash; frequently loads and unloads heavy materials; and operates and performs routine maintenance of small grounds equipment such as blowers, line trimmers and hedge trimmers, as well as hand tools such as shovels, rakes and pruning shears. The incumbent may be required to operate gasoline and diesel powered vehicles with gross vehicle weight or more than 7000 pounds and less than 22000 pounds. Included are such vehicles as cargo, van, dump and stake trucks and passenger-carrying vehicles. Also, special purpose vehicles equipped with power take-off. The incumbent may be required to operate various types of tractors to mow lawns, fields, roadsides, picnic areas and campgrounds; prepare acreage for planting; level and grade earth; and load and unload materials by using tractor attachments designed to perform the above activities. The equipment described above is operated over roads and streets, in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions, through open fields and or over rough terrain, depending on the type of vehicle and purpose for which it is being used. Incumbent may use power washers and various chemicals to remove graffiti throughout the Park.

This position is located in the Division of Administration, Rock Creek Park, National Capital Region. The incumbent reviews and analyzes the park's budgets to ensure the preparation and use of funds are in accordance with allocations, policies, procedures and laws. The incumbent also provides financial planning and advice including evaluating projected needs versus anticipated funding levels; reviews budget requests; prepares budget and financial summaries for submission to management of the park; and maintains a current and functional control record of all allocations and authorizations received and those disbursed. In addition, the incumbent provides technical services, including advice to unit managers as well as the design of and participation in training sessions for park personnel in budget preparation, budget execution, status of funds and financial control. Finally, the incumbent also serves as the park's Third Party Draft agent and handles deposits.
