The USGS Office of Organizational and Employee Development (OED) serves the educational, informational, training, and development needs of the USGS and other federal agencies. OED provides a wide variety of science and technical, professional, managerial, and administrative development opportunities. Classes are held at the National Training Center in Denver, Colorado, and other USGS office locations across the Nation. We also address the organizational needs of the USGS by providing consulting and coaching. We invite you to work with us to help identify science, technical, business, and leadership development needs throughout the Bureau.
OED Vision
OED promotes the USGS as a premier learning organization dedicated to the development of human potential and the advancement of earth science.
OED Mission
OED serves the USGS by providing tools to:
- Foster and promote lifelong learning for every employee
- Create a leadership-centered culture
- Enhance science & technical, administrative and managerial knowledge, skills, and performance
- Develop competent managers and supervisors
OED Strategic Goals
The primary strategic goals of OED are to enhance the scientific and technical skills of the USGS workforce and foster visionary leadership and management professionalism.
