    Four Alpha Company, 5-158 Aviation Regiment, "Fighting Falcons," Soldiers were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Nov. 1st at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan for their heroism on an aerial flight April 2, 2010. Chief Warrant Officer two Sean Johnson, Chief Warrant Officer Two Eric Wells, Sgt. William Ebel and Spc. Todd Marchese were part of the successful medevac of eight German commandos in the vicinity of Konduz, Afghanistan. The Germans were ambushed by insurgents and this crew performed multiple suppressive gun runs which kept the insurgents from surrounding the commandos and allowed the bird to land and extract the wounded. This crew has already received the German Gold Cross of Honor for Bravery. They are four of 14 foreigners to have ever received this award.     Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) Princido Texidor, the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) Food Service advisor, was promoted today to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Five (CW5). The promotion made Texidor of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the first Hispanic to achieve the rank of CW5 in the Army's Food Service branch. CW5 is the highest rank in the Warrant Officer Corps. Maj. Gen. Raymond V. Mason, FORSCOM's G4/Director of Logistics, presided over the promotion ceremony, which took place in the Hall of Heroes at the Soldier Support Center at Fort Bragg, NC.

"The plan is synchronous with the Army Campaign Plan, and focuses on our output-trained and ready forces capable of skillfully executing full spectrum operations anywhere in the world our capabilities are needed."

    Approximately 50 provincial and district leaders from throughout Paktika Province met over a three-day period to discuss strategic planning, budgeting and various ways in which to identify the true needs of their constituents. The training also introduced the concept of the People's Development Fund, a new initiative designed to help Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan officials better manage their resources and expectations. The event was the second in a scheduled multi-phased training plan to help promote development and good governance in the province located in southeast Afghanistan. The Paktika PRT is a joint team whose mission is to help legitimize the government of Afghanistan through development, governance and agricultural initiatives.

    Task Force No Slack examined the medical supplies available to the clinic at Lar Sholtan village in eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province. The unit made arrangements to provide the clinic with its spare medical supplies. Two months previously, a female suicide bomber killed two Soldiers with the unit and seriously wounded two other Soldiers, three Afghan police officers and at least five children in the village. This marked the first visit to the community by International Security Assistance Forces since the attack.
