Changing the Face of Medicine Traveling Exhibition

Tuesday, March 15th, 2005

Five libraries in the NN/LM Middle Atlantic Region have been selected by the American Library Association to host the National Library of Medicine exhibit, “Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians” in 2005. NLM mounted the initial exhibition honoring the lives and accomplishments of these women in the hope of inspiring a new
generation of medical pioneers.

We congratulate the following libraries in this region:

New Brunswick Free Public Library
New Brunswick, NJ

City College Library
New York, NY

SUNY Upstate Medical University
Health Science Library
Syracuse, NY

Drexel University
College of Medicine Library
Philadelphia, PA

University of  Pittsburgh
Health Sciences Library System
Falk Library of the Health Sciences
Pittsburgh, PA

The exhibition provides a marvelous panorama of the many ways that women have influenced and enhanced the practice of medicine and the individuals
featured in it provide an intriguing glimpse of the broader community of
women doctors who are making a difference. It will be on display in the host llibraries for a six-week period. If you did not have an opportunity to view the exhibit at NLM in Bethesda, do look for it and any accompanying programs the libraries sponsor. When we know the exact dates for each venue we will send an alert.
