March, 4 2013 | Managed Scholarship Deadlines Near. The Richard “Dick” Gecoma Scholarship and the Building Official Associating of South Carolina Scholarship deadlines are March 15 and April 15, respectively. The two Managed Scholarships are funded solely by the sponsoring ICC Chapters.
March 4, 2013 | American Lumber Standard Committee Holds Hearing. The board reviewed and considered the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau proposal for the full in-grade assigned design values submission for southern pine and six letters concerning the submission.
March 1, 2013 | 2013 OBOA/FBOA Joint Conference. The Ohio Building Officials Association and Five County Building Officials Association meeting March 10, 11 and 12 in Akron includes code education and special events along with representatives from ICC, ICC Region V and the Ohio Board of Building Standards. March 1, 2013 | Washington, D.C. Names IAS as Preferred Accreditation Body. To ensure inspection agencies are qualified to perform third-party inspections in the nation’s capital they must demonstrate compliance with the Construction Codes and the Procedure Manual. To perform third-party inspections, applicants accredited by the International Accreditation Service only need to provide evidence of a current IAS accreditation.
March 1, 2013 | International Code Council Marks Another 10 Year Milestone: Commitment to Members, Strategic Partners and Code Development. Ten years ago three regional code organizations began operating as one consolidated association: the International Code Council. It was a monumental change in the industry.
Feb. 28, 2013 | Code Development Process for the Future Prepares for Debut. cdp ACCESS, an online initiative aimed to increase participation in the International Code Council code development process, is being prepared for testing. The new process will allow for in-person and online participation while maintaining the high level of integrity ICC’s code development process is known for.
Feb. 28, 2013 | ICC 2013 Call for Presentations. The Code Council is seeking proposals from anyone interested in presenting to an audience of code officials, inspectors, plans examiners, fire officials, city managers, engineers, architects, and others related to the building safety industry. Deadline for submissions is March 22.
Feb. 28, 2013 | ICC Approves Deletion of IBC Chapter 34 in Favor of Reference to the IEBC. The ICC Board supported the Membership's recommendation and upheld action taken at the 2012 Public Comment Hearing in Portland on Code Change G201-12 that proposed the deletion of Chapter 34 of the International Building Code in favor of a reference to the International Existing Building Code. The IEBC, in Chapters 4 (Prescriptive Compliance Method) and 14 (Performance Compliance Methods), includes the same provisions that are in Chapter 34 of the IBC. Click here to read more.
Feb. 26, 2013 | ICC Supports Need for Safety Incentive. ICC, along with several associations, is urging Congress to reintroduce and pass the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act to provide incentives to make buildings safer. The call to action notes the recent Brazil tragedy and the Feb. 20, 10th anniversary of the Station nightclub fire.
Feb. 26, 2013 | Interim Guidance for ICC Members on Community Development Block Grant Funding. ICC has been working with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development so code officials and HUD administrators recognize that CDBG funding may be used for building code administration. A joint webinar will be announced soon.

Feb. 21, 2013 | Sponsored Scholarships Available April 29. Children of code enforcement agency personnel whose jurisdictional authority is an active ICC Governmental Member have the opportunity to apply for five Sponsored Scholarships. Only one application is needed to apply for all the scholarships. Deadline for submissions is June 28.
Feb. 20, 2013 | 2013 Group B Committee Action Hearings Schedule Available. The Committee Action Hearings are April 21-30 at the Sheraton Dallas Downtown Hotel. ICC Members and other building safety professionals will discuss, debate and take action on about 2,000 code changes.
