The Three River's Entrepreneur Network presents its January seminar: "Intellectual Property from the Start-Up's Perspective." The speaker will be Sean Grygiel, an attorney with Fish & Richardson PC's New York office. Sean will discuss strategies and best practices for building intellectual property (IP) from the start-up and early stage company's perspective.
Additional topics will include: planning for and protecting patentable subject matter early in the development cycle; aligning IP with business plans, development plans, resources and markets; using IP to bolster valuation; and common IP pitfalls experienced in early stage ventures.

About the Speaker
Sean Grygiel
Sean Grygiel is an attorney in Fish & Richardson PC's New York office. His practice emphasizes, among other areas, intellectual property development for early stage companies, including patent prosecution and counseling. He has worked with clients in the telecommunications, software, medical device, consumer products and manufacturing
industries. Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Sean was co-founder and COO of his own start-up technology company in Long Island, New York. His technical experience includes serving as an engineer in the U.S. Coast Guard, working in both the operational and regulatory communities. Sean is a former Tri-Cities resident, graduating from Richland High School in
1990. He has a mechanical engineering degree from the United States Coast Guard Academy and a JD from the George Washington University Law School. He currently lives with his family in Port Washington, New York but takes every opportunity to get back to the Pacific Northwest.
