U.S. Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Eduardo Ochoa will host a discussion about college affordability as part of a series of conversations the Department is having with students and families across the country on college affordability. The forum will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 15, at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Ochoa will deliver brief remarks and then take questions and input from students, parents and educators. During the event, Ochoa will discuss the Department’s available aid and grant funds, affordable student loan repayment options, and initiatives the Department is undertaking to hold down college costs – including calling for a shared responsibility to keep higher education affordable for American families. He will also discuss the Administration’s efforts to make college costs more transparent for students and families, including the Department’s release this week of several lists on the College Affordability and Transparency Center, which highlights institutions with the highest and lowest tuition and net price, and those schools where prices are rising the fastest.

While in town, Ochoa will also join several college presidents and officials for a closed-press meeting. This discussion is part of a number of meetings that senior Obama Administration officials are having with higher education leaders on the importance of holding down college costs.

The town hall is being hosted by Loyola Marymount University and the American Council on Education. Members of the press should RSVP at: http://www.lmu.edu/RSVP/_A_Conversation_About_College_Affordability_.htm
