Military Guard and Reserve - Federal Grants, Loans, and Educational Benefits

Take advantage of the many federal grants, loans and educational benefits available to assist you in pursuing your educational goals. With those extra dollars, you can afford the cost of a college education.

Federal Grants and Loans

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): Required application from the U.S. Department of Education to determine eligibility for any form of federal financial aid.
  • Pell Grant: The Pell Grant is a form of financial assistance provided by the federal government that does not need to be repaid.
  • Stafford Loan: A government loan program for students enrolled at least half-time.
  • PLUS Loans: Loans that parents can use towards their children's education.
  • Perkins Loans: Loans paid back by you to your university.

DoD Active Duty Tuition Assistance Policy

Military Tuition Assistance (TA): Congress has enabled the military services to pay up to 100% of education costs for enlisted members.
