ANNOTATION: Results from an outcome evaluation of the faith-based prisoner reentry program InnerChange Freedom Initiative are reviewed. Not only is the risk of participants recidivating significantly reduced (reoffending by 26%, reconviction by 35%, and new offence reincarceration by 40%), the program is also very cost-effective. “The findings suggest that faith-based correctional programs can work, but only if they apply what is known about effective correctional programming” (p. 3).
