Sandhurst Competition 2013

The Sandhurst Military Skills Competition has run in various configurations since 1967.  This year, it remains a two-day event conducted at the United States Military Academy West Point, New York.  At its core, Sandhurst is an inter-company competition for USMA.  However, West Point teams now compete not only amongst themselves, but against teams from their fellow United States Service Academies, select 8 teams from the U.S. Army Cadet Command (ROTC), the United States Military Academy Preparatory School, and up to 12 international teams from around the world.
Each USMA Cadet Company and Visiting Team selects a 9-member Squad, at least one member of the squad must be a female, with 2 alternates 1 of which should also be female.  This squad will conduct the Marksmanship and Land Navigation portion on Day 1 of the competition and perform a series of challenging military tasks during a rapid, non-tactical move along a partly-prescribed 8 mile route on Day 2.
This year's Sandhurst Competition will be held on Friday/Saturday, 19/20 April 2013 with spectators very welcome on both days.  We will conduct this year’s reconnaissance in the New Year over the 5-7 February 13.  There will be a social evening on 18 April 13 however this is only for all external participating teams before the competition begins.  Finally the awards ceremony is scheduled for the evening of the 20 April 13 situated at West Point’s Eisenhower Hall.
Last year’s competition was a tough and challenging event seeing team Australia for the first time ever as the defending champions.  This year we will push all teams even further with title of being the World’s leading Military Academy in this type of military skills competition at stake.

See you in April for Sandhurst 2013!

Best wishes, DMI-6”
