National Gallery of Art ice rink to open Nov. 17

There’s no professional hockey season to speak of (yet), but ice skating season is set to begin as usual at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. The District’s most famous public outdoor rink is set to open Nov. 17, weather permitting, and will remain open through March 16, 2013.

  • Novemberfest - Bar/Club Event
    Oktoberfest is over, and beer fans are leaving behind crisp German lagers and sweet pumpkin ales in favor of dark, strong beers perfect for keeping a body warm on a cold autumn or winter night. Get a taste of the season at Rustico's Novemberfest in Alexandria, where dozens of taps will be pouring Christmas ales from St. Bernardus and Great Lakes, the rich, new Belgian-style quadruple from DC Brau, and a 2010-vintage keg of Dogfish Head's high-octane Olde School Barleywine. (Just remember to bundle up, as the festival is held in Rustico's parking lot.) The $15 admission includes a souvenir mug and 10 food and drink tickets; most beers will cost three to four tickets for a tasting pour, and six to eight for a full-size glass. Additional tickets will be on sale at the festival for $1 each.
