I-5 Corridor Reinforcement
I-5 corridor Update June postcard update (pdf) Draft EIS expected late fall

BPA expects to release its draft environmental impact statement, including a preferred alternative, for its I-5 Corridor Reinforcement Project late this fall.

In the meantime, BPA is completing data collection, analyzing a multitude of factors and identifying necessary permitting processes. The delay allows us to provide the most thorough environmental analysis possible.
We thank landowners and stakeholders for their comments and patience, and expect to deliver them a comprehensive and quality product for comment later this year.

Spotlight question
Q: What is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' role in our NEPA process?

A: The Corps is a cooperating agency in this process. The Corps' role is primarily to implement the requirements of the federal Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbor Act of 1899. This role includes reviewing and making permit decisions on proposals, such as this project, that may require discharge of dredged or fill material into waters of the U.S., and work within navigable waters of the U.S. The Corps assists with identification of appropriate mitigation under these statutes.
