Group hard at work on plagiarism, fabrication recommendations

Journalism professionals and academics representing a host of major organizations are conducting research aimed at producing practical recommendations for combating and dealing with plagiarism and fabrication. Their conclusions are to be presented at a summit that will be part of the 2013 ACES conference in St. Louis.

“We’re wrestling with some difficult questions,” said William G. Connolly, a retired senior editor of the New York Times, who is heading the group. “For example, there’s no accepted definition of plagiarism, let alone a standard approach to dealing with it. The committee members are breaking new ground here.”
