Published three times a year, the magazine is distributed in hard-copy form to more than 10,000 national and international leaders and policymakers, including members of the U.S. Congress, military commanders, foreign ministers, ambassadors, university presidents, foundation presidents, corporate executives, law firm partners, health care administrators, educators, government officials, researchers, philanthropists, libraries, the media, and the general public. Another 5,000 hard copies are distributed at prominent bookstores, public events, and the five United Clubs at the New York, Washington, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles airport hubs of United Airlines. An additional 10,000 readers receive online subscriptions, all of which are upon request. Back issues of RAND Review and RAND Research Review are available online through 1994.

Farsighted Leadership in a Shortsighted World

Our cover story explores nine key issues for the 2012 U.S. presidential election: income inequality, health care costs, immigration reform, energy options, education, al Qaeda, Iraq, democratization in the Middle East, and China. RAND president Michael Rich introduces the series, emphasizing the importance of long-term thinking for effective leadership. In the essays that follow, RAND experts describe President Barack Obama’s record and Governor Mitt Romney’s position on each issue before giving their own opinions.
