The Housing and Civil Enforcement Section enforces the Fair Housing Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (nondiscrimination in public accommodations),the land use provisions of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA) and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), which provides for the temporary suspension of judicial and administrative proceedings and civil protections in areas such as housing, credit and taxes for military personnel while they are on active duty.
