RMC Welcomes New President

RMC is pleased to announce that Sharon Murray, MHSE, CHES, has been hired as President/CEO of RMC effective September 8, 2008. Sharon will be replacing Mary Doyen, who is retiring after 20 years as RMC’s President.

Since May 2002, Sharon has served as the Executive Director of the Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Commonly known as the “Society,” this professional membership association is comprised of supervisors and coordinators of health education, physical education, and related programs at state departments of education. As Executive Director, Sharon spearheads the organization’s efforts to improve state education and health agency collaboration to support improved school health programs for youth. She coordinates the Friends of School Health, a coalition of 60 national health and education organizations dedicated to improving student outcomes through coordinated school health programs. In March 2007, Sharon was honored with the organization’s President Award for achievement.

Prior to joining the Society, Sharon served as the Health Education Coordinator for the Florida Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Program. In this position, she provided state level training, technical assistance, and evaluation services to Florida’s 67 school districts and other state and local agencies, and served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Alliance of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, and was an advisory board member of the Florida School Health Association.

Sharon has worked in student professional preparation at the University of Florida’s College of Health and Human Performance and was the Assistant Health Education Coordinator at Texas A&M University’s student health center.

She is a nationally certified health education specialist and holds a Master of Health Science Education degree from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication/Public Relations from the Florida State University

RMC awarded Well Workplace recognition

RMC is celebrating our new designation as one of America's Healthiest Companies!

In May 2008, the Wellness Councils of America recognized RMC as a "Well Workplace"—one of only a few in Colorado—for quality and excellence in worksite health promotion.

RMC’s Working Well Initiative promotes healthy lifestyles for staff and their families in order to improve our health, reduce unnecessary health care expenditures, and make RMC an even better place to work.

Information on our Working Well Initiative is now located within the "About RMC" section of our website. We look forward to sharing our stories, resources, and progress with you, and we hope our experience can help you bring employee wellness to the forefront in your own organization.
