2010 Census

The White Population — This 2010 Census brief provides a portrait of the white population in the United States and discusses distribution from the national level down to counties, metropolitan statistical areas and places. The report discusses the size and growth of the white population and analyzes patterns by Hispanic origin. The brief contains tables and figures (including maps) that display regional, state and county patterns.

The Black Population: 2010 — This 2010 Census brief provides a portrait of the black population in the United States and discusses distribution from the national level down to counties, metropolitan statistical areas and places. Demographic

Education and Synthetic Work-Life Earnings — This report uses 2006-2009 American Community Survey data to show the basic relationship between lifetime earnings and education. The report also shows the effect of race and gender and other characteristics with regard to this relationship. We expect to issue this release on an embargo basis. (Scheduled for release in September.)

Reported Voting and Registration by Race, Hispanic Origin, Sex and Age: November 2010 — These statistics compare the voting and registration patterns by demographic, social and economic characteristics. (Scheduled for release in September.)

Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage: 2010 — On Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. EDT, the Census Bureau will hold a Web news conference to announce findings from the official report on income, poverty and health insurance coverage for the nation, based on the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the 2011 Current Population Survey. The Web conference will consist of a simultaneous audio conference and online presentation.

Intercensal Population Estimates: 2000 - 2010 — A series of annual estimates covering the 2000-2010 period, produced by modifying the estimates prepared previously for this period to reflect 2010 Census results. Reference date is July 1 for each year, plus a set of estimates with an April 1 date for 2000 and 2010. Estimates are provided for the U.S., states and counties by demographic characteristics (age, sex, race and Hispanic origin).

Having a consistent time series of population estimates that reflect (or benchmark to) 2000 Census 2000 and 2010 Census is important for any study of the population over time. The intercensal estimates can be used, for example, to track trends in population changes, or as denominators for calculating birth and death rates and other population characteristics. The intercensal population estimates are also used as survey controls for the American Community Survey. (Scheduled for release in September.)

Annual Survey of Government Employment and Payroll: 2010 — This table package shows totals for state and local government full-time and part-time employment and detail employment by government function at the national and state level. (Scheduled for release in August.)

2009 Annual Survey of State and Locally Administered Public Employee Retirement Systems — These tables provide revenues, expenditures, financial assets and membership information for public employee retirement systems. Statistics are shown for individual retirement systems at the national, state and local government level. This survey provides current statistics about investment decisions by state and local government retirement systems, which are among the largest types of institutional investors in U.S. financial markets. (Scheduled for release in September.)

Economic Indicators — The Census Bureau releases statistics that provide monthly, quarterly and yearly updates on key measures of the nation's economic condition. Upcoming releases include manufacturers' shipment, inventories, and orders, construction spending and quarterly services survey. Current Industrial Reports (CIRs) — These statistics provide monthly, quarterly and annual measures of industrial activity. The 47 CIRs focus on groups of industries, such as textiles and apparel, chemicals, primary metals, computer and electronic components, industrial equipment and consumer goods and provide current and historical statistics on production and shipments of selected products. CIR statistics are used to satisfy economic policy needs and for market analysis, forecasting and decision-making in the private sector. 2010 Census

Island Areas Population Counts — Aug. 24 — The Census Bureau released population counts for American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A table was released for each Island Area showing 2010 Census population counts and percent change from the 2000 Census. The tables include counts and the percent change for various levels of geography within each Island Area. A thematic map showing population change within the Island Area was also released.

2010 Census Summary File 1 — Aug. 25 — These files provides a number of detailed tables from the 2010 Census on age, sex, households, families, relationship to householder, housing units, detailed race and Hispanic or Latino origin groups and group quarters. Tables are shown down to the block or census tract level. Summary File 1 is the first 2010 Census release to include statistics for ZIP code tabulation areas. Tables cover states, counties, county subdivisions, places, census tracts, congressional districts for the 111th Congress and, where applicable, American Indian and Alaska Native areas and Hawaiian home lands. Release of state files completed Aug. 25.

2010 Census Demographic Profiles: New Geographies — Aug. 25 — Additional lower-level geographies - including ZIP code tabulation areas, school districts and census tracts - were released for the demographic profiles. Previously demographic profiles were released for states and other areas with statistics on topics such as age, race, Hispanic origin, sex, household relationship, household type, group quarters population and home ownership. Marital Events of Americans: 2009 — Aug. 25 — This report examines marriage, divorce and widowhood in America as well as selected characteristics for those experiencing a marital event in the past year. Historically, data on marriages and divorces in the U.S. were collected by the National Center for Health Statistics, but this program was discontinued in 1996. In 2008, the Census Bureau added questions about marital events to the American Community Survey (ACS). This report is the first of its kind to describe the detailed characteristics of the marital events using data from the ACS. Profile America — Facts for Features

Grandparents Day (Sept. 11) — Aug. 26 — On this day intended to honor the nation's grandparents, the Census Bureau provides an array of demographic statistics about the role these caregivers play in the lives of our nation's youth. Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) — Aug. 26 — During this monthlong observance, our nation celebrates the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Mexico, Spain and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. The Census Bureau joins in the celebration with this fact sheet presenting a range of updated statistics describing the demographic state of the nation's Latino population, including new statistics from the 2010 Census and statistics on Hispanic-owned businesses.
