Volunteers Lend a Hand at Pole Creek
On September 29, National Public Lands Day (NPLD), BLM managers, staff and volunteers completed projects at two sites in the Boise District. Over 60 individuals, ages 5 to 70, provided the muscle, energy and enthusiasm to build 300 feet of buck and pole fence and to install a new information kiosk at the entrance to the Pole Creek Wilderness Area on the Owyhee Uplands Backcountry Byway. Pole Creek Wilderness Area is located about 2.5 hours south of Boise. “The value of our partners helping BLM with National Public Land’s Day accomplishments and many other on-the-ground activities cannot be over emphasized,” said new Boise District Manager Jim Fincher. “Their energy and hard work helped provide a lasting contribution to achieving our multiple use mission and stewardship of the public land.”
