Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Eric P. Schwartz will travel to Geneva, Iraq, Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank from May 2 -12, 2011.

In Geneva, Assistant Secretary Schwartz will meet with United Nations officials, and international and civil society organizations to review current and future humanitarian initiatives.

During a stop in Iraq, Assistant Secretary Schwartz will engage with government and UN officials, and representatives from other international and nongovernment organizations to discuss the return and local integration of displaced Iraqis, as well as support for displaced Iraqis and Iraqi refugees in the region.

Assistant Secretary Schwartz will travel to Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank for meetings with Israeli and Palestinian Government officials, and international and nongovernmental organizations, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Assistant Secretary Schwartz also will meet with Palestinian refugees living in the West Bank and asylum seekers from Sudan, Eritrea, and other sub-Saharan African countries.
