Jun Li, MD, PhD, MPH
Jun Li, MD, PhD, MPH, is an epidemiologist in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control's (DCPC's) Epidemiology and Applied Research Branch. In July 2006, he joined CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officer in DCPC. His research interests focus on preventing and controlling prostate and childhood cancers. Dr. Li served as DCPC's point of contact for a multi-state birth defect and childhood cancer linkage study. He leads research projects to monitor prostate cancer and childhood cancer incidence and mortality, as well as use of prostate cancer screening across the nation. Dr. Li also has strong interests in cancer genomics. He received CDC's Public Health Genomics Fellowship Award in 2007.
Prior to coming to CDC, he worked as postdoctoral research associate in Emory University's Department of Orthopedics, focusing on gene therapy for spinal degeneration. The International Society for the Study of Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) Research awarded him the ISSLS prize in 2004.
Dr. Li earned his MD from a seven-year program at Xi'an Medical University in 1998. He was trained jointly by Xi'an Jiaotong University and Emory University for his PhD. He received his MPH in epidemiology from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory.
