Numeric tables present data on prior alcohol and drug abuse by type of drug, type of offense, severity of prior substance abuse, and other offender characteristics. Tables include trends in the levels of substance abuse and treatment reported by prisoners since the last national survey was conducted in 1991. Data on the incidence of various alcohol/drug-related behaviors, such as domestic disputes and driving under the influence, are also included along with numeric tables on the prevalence of alcohol dependence, as well as the types of treatment and other substance abuse programs in prisons.
