Acquisition Services and Financial Assistance
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
The BLM, with headquarters in Washington, DC, has 11 state offices throughout the western United States, an Eastern States Office, a National Interagency Fire Center, and National Operations Center (NOC). The BLM's procurement offices are decentralized for procurements less than $150,000. The NOC in Denver, Colorado and our Oregon/Washington Office not only handle most procurements over $150,000 but also award and administer all Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts that are national in scope.
The BLM's Business Services Branch in the Headquarters or Washington Office provides national oversight for acquisition services and financial assistance activities. In addition, the Branch processes procurement actions for the Washington Office programs and activities.
