On May 16, 2008, HUD published a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) that announced the competitive reallocation of deobligated HOME CHDO set-aside funds to expand the supply of energy efficient and environmentally-friendly (Green) housing that is affordable to low-income families. A CHDO is a community housing development organization that has been designated by a HOME participating jurisdiction (PJ) as meeting specific criteria.
The following applicant PJs have each been awarded $250,000 to produce energy efficient and environmentally-friendly housing units that are owned, developed or sponsored by eligible CHDOs, using design and technology models that can be replicated. All units must qualify for and receive ENERGY STAR certification by an independent Home Energy Rater (HER) upon completion. For more information about a specific Green project, contact the local jurisdiction.
