GSA’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center Helps Department of Homeland Security Keep America Safe

WASHINGTON, April 14, 2011 – GSA’s Assisted Acquisition Services group, Federal Systems Integration Management and Center, recently awarded a significant contract on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security to support the agency’s work to keep America safe.
The DHS Enterprise Network Support Services project enables the agency to provide critical security intelligence to first responders at the federal, state, and local levels. The task order is the largest award made by FEDSIM and the largest for the Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract.
"By working extremely closely with DHS, the FEDSIM team not only facilitated a smooth and quick procurement, their skillful contract negotiations saved the agency $14 million,” said DHS Chief Information Officer Richard A. Spires.
The team started in late August 2010 and streamlined the process to make an award in less than six months, months that included the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
The project will enhance secure, classified enterprise networked services among Homeland Security intelligence components, law enforcement agencies, emergency preparedness, and response components. It also provides other field activities to help agencies share classified data in support of DHS’ mission.
The Assisted Acquisition Services group has partnered with DHS’ Enterprise Networked Services Division for the past seven years, beginning with the initial award of the Homeland Secure Data Network task order. FEDSIM will continue to provide project, acquisition, and financial management support to DHS throughout the contract.

This is what the FEDSIM team does best, and our long-standing relationship with DHS is a testament to their expertise and success.”
The project includes design, engineering, architecture, integration, configuration, testing, deployment, sustainment, operations, and maintenance of the enterprisewide services. The work will be performed by Northrop Grumman Information Technology Inc. of McLean, Va.
