Welcome to the Office of Emergency Management

The Community of Ann Arbor has historically worked together and risen to the challenge whenever natural and manmade disasters have affected the community.  Whether you are a resident, public official, city employee or businessperson, your commitment to teamwork and participation is the key asset when handling any emergency situation.  Everyone in the community has a role to play in making the outcome a success.

If, and when, we ever face adversity brought on by a natural calamity or man-made disaster, we are better prepared to confront the dilemma with an enhanced level of confidence through thorough and effective planning. This, however, is but a portion of the successful resolution to a community-wide or localized disaster. It’s the character, determination, and the volunteer nature of our residents and business community that will truly set us apart from many others. Please consider these preparedness suggestions/ recommendations and take action, beginning with your own household.

Team together before the next emergency or disaster occurs.  This would be an excellent opportunity to meet your neighbors and form your own neighborhood association or group to help each other in planning for emergency situations. One group that already exists is the Ann Arbor Police Department’s Neighborhood Watch Program, which have over 500 teams currently in existence. For more information on the Neighborhood Watch Groups please contact Adele El-Ayoubi at 734-794-6933.

Stay tuned to your local Ann Arbor Cable TV Channel (CTN), and read the Ann Arbor News and Observer for additional updates, information, and upcoming public meetings.

Most of the information contained on this website is available in pamphlet form from the Office of Emergency Management Office.  Please call 734-794-6980 if you would like this information sent to your home or business.  You can also email a request for information to the Office of Emergency Management.
