Families today look different then the TV shows of the 1950s. Blending two families involves a lot more then mom, dad and kids moving into one house. Step families have many unique challenges. These resources are a starting point to help you work with fathers in step families.

National Stepfamily Resource Center

The National Stepfamily Resource Center (NSRC) is a division of Auburn University’s Center for Children, Youth, and Families (CCYF). The National Stepfamily Resource Center’s primary objective is serving as a clearinghouse of information, linking family science research on stepfamilies and best practices in work with couples and children in stepfamilies.

Spotlight on Dads
Spotlight on Dads resources are designed specifically for dads, and for programs to be able to share with fathers. Spotlight on Dads help dads think about the ways their involvement affects the lives of their children. Each contains suggestions on books or movies that dads can use to learn more, and a page of discussion and thought provoking questions to further think about each issue.

Steps in The Right Direction (2009)
The introduction of a step-parent into a child’s life can be difficult for the children and parents. This resource provides advice on taking steps toward positive co-parenting and relationship building.
