Metropolitan area unemployment in November 2010
In November 2010, unemployment rates were higher than a year earlier in 182 of the 372 metropolitan areas, lower in 166 areas, and unchanged in 24 areas. The national unemployment rate in November was 9.3 percent, not seasonally adjusted, compared with 9.4 percent a year earlier.

Yuma, Arizona, registered the largest over-the-year unemployment rate increase in November (+4.3 percentage points). The only other area with a rate increase of 2.0 percentage points or more was Pueblo, Colorado (+2.4 points).
Monroe, Michigan, recorded the largest over-the-year jobless rate decrease (−3.5 percentage points), followed by Muskegon-Norton Shores, Michigan (−3.2 points), and Detroit-Warren-Livonia, Michigan (−3.0 points). Nine additional areas reported rate decreases of at least 2.0 percentage points, seven of which were also located in Michigan.
These metropolitan area data are not seasonally adjusted and are from the Local Area Unemployment Statistics program. November 2010 metropolitan area unemployment rates are preliminary and subject to revision.
