Recovery & Reinvestment in the Region
The Great Lakes Region has obligated $845 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds, the second highest GSA regional outlay nationally and 15 percent of GSA's total Recovery Act budget of $5.5 billion.
Many of the region's Recovery investment has gone to energy saving projects, including overhaul of the Paul Simon Federal Building solar roof (pictured here) in Carbondale, Illinois.
Since Recovery began, the Region has spent $361 million in major modernization, leasing, and various small Recovery Act projects. The Region's Recovery Act outlays make up 13 percent of GSA's national outlays of $2.78 billion in fiscal year 2011.
