What We Do
The Office of Operations provides legal advice on a broad range of issues affecting the Department's programs. We are the principal legal advisors to the General Counsel and Departmental Offices in the following areas of law:
- The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Laws
- Environmental Law
- Economic/Competition Issues Affecting Airports and Airlines
- The Department's Emergency Response Authorities/Transportation Security/Cyber Security
In addition to the practice areas listed above, we handle bankruptcy and labor issues, matters involving Federal/State law interaction, records management issues, and transportation issues affecting Native American Tribes. We also provide counsel for the Department's Essential Air Service and Small Community Air Service Development programs.
