Meetings of the National Science Board Begin on July 16 at NSF Headquarters

The National Science Board (NSB) will meet on July 16, 17 and 18 to address science and engineering policy of interest to the National Science Foundation (NSF). The meeting will also feature NSF's astronomical science portfolio review and updates on iPlant, NEON and Blue Waters. All open sessions on July 17 and 18 will be webcast. Members of the media and the public are invited to public portions of the meeting. Highlights include: Monday, July 16, 2012 3:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Committee on Programs and Plans The NSB will hear the Astronomical Science Portfolio Review. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Committee on Programs and Plans The NSB will discuss: - Status of Implementation of Board Policy on Re-competition

- Hear an update on the release of the first companion to Science & Engineering Indicators 2012
Wednesday, July 18, 2012 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Committee on Strategy and Budget The NSB will hear an update on NSF FY 2012 & 2013 Budget and hear a report from the Subcommittee on Facilities. 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Plenary Open - Approval of NSB Meeting Schedule for 2013

The NSB is the 25-member policymaking body for NSF and advisory body to the president and Congress on science and engineering issues. Drawn from industry and universities, and representing a variety of science and engineering disciplines and geographic areas, NSB members are selected for their eminence in research, education or public service, and records of distinguished service.
