Matthew Nathan, Navy surgeon general, speaks during the second day of plenary sessions during the 2012 Military Health System (MHS) Conference held at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., Feb. 1, 2012. The MHS aims to ensure the medical readiness of U.S. service members, and to provide a ready medical force.

Vice Adm. Matthew Nathan, the newly appointed 37th Navy Surgeon General provides an overview of his vision for the future of Navy medicine during his remarks at the Navy Surgeon General Change of Command ceremony Nov 18, 2011 where he assumed the job as the top uniformed medical professional for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. His remarks include a focus on warfighter support, taking care of the caregiver, readiness, harnessing information management systems and joint operations.
