Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes
The symptoms of type 2 diabetes develop slowly. Some
people may not have symptoms.
What is prediabetes?
Juan says: "The doctor told me that I have
prediabetes. My fasting blood sugar was
120 mg/dL, and I am also overweight. The
news made me change my habits. I do not want
to develop diabetes."
Prediabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to have diabetes. People with prediabetes are likely to develop diabetes. If you have prediabetes, you can take these steps to prevent diabetes:
- Eat foods lower in fat and calories.
- Aim for a healthy weight, and lose weight if you are overweight.
- Be physically active on most days.
