The American Community Survey (ACS) is an official survey from the U.S. Census Bureau. Every year the ACS surveys a small percentage of addresses to produce timely statistics about our nation's social, economic and housing characteristics. It is the counterpart to the once-a-decade population census, and its topics were included in a longer version of each decade's census. Since the ACS is conducted every year, it provides more current estimates throughout the decade.
