National Radon Action Month

Submit Activities and Find Events in Your Area

The National Radon Action Month activity submission process is available via the Radon Leaders Saving Lives Portal at www.radonleaders.org/nram Exiting EPA between the months of October through February. You can use an online Activity Submittal Form, a single event submission form, that allows you to provide a more robust description of the thoughtful and exciting activities and events you are planning in your communities. By using the Portal, you are able to see updated activity information in real time, easily search activities from past years, blog about your National Radon Action Month experience or share ideas with colleagues through the discussion forums. Radon Leaders Saving Lives

RadonLeaders.org is an online learning and action network supporting the Radon Leaders Saving Lives Campaign.

In 2007, leaders from CRCPD, AARST, and EPA’s Radon program launched the Radon Leaders Saving Lives Campaign, with the goal of doubling the number of lives saved from radon-induced lung cancer within 5 years. RadonLeaders.org was launched in 2008. It connects radon stakeholders through interactive tools and resources, and features resources such as the Radon Change Package, which features proven strategies for reducing radon risks.

View featured activities below from past years to get inspired to plan your own activities. This list will be updated with featured activities throughout the country.

  • Event: 4-H School Enrichment Activities - In towns across Alabama, students learned about the health effects of radon during National Radon Action Month. The 4-H School Enrichment programs worked with schools throughout January to raise awareness about radon through Radon Bingo.
     
  • Event: National Radon Action Month Billboards - The Barren River District in Kentucky displayed seven billboards highlighting National Radon Action Month and the risks of radon. The billboards were a great way to get out the word about radon.
     
  • Event: New York State Radon Poster Contest Display - New York displayed all 199 Radon Poster Contest entries at the Empire State Plaza Concourse in Albany and recognized the winning poster and runner-ups.
     
  • Event: Free Radon Information Dinner - Utah offered a free fire safety and radon class, and a free dinner for parents. The state discussed the hazards of residential fires and radon, and provided free radon test kits.
     
  • Event: 15-Minute Radio Interview on WDUN to promote National Radon Action Month - As part of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Radon Education Program's outreach efforts, radon educators discussed radon and the importance of testing homes. The radio station broadcast covered over 18 counties in Northeast Georgia.
