On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 3276, under a suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  H.R. 3276 was introduced by Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) on October 27, 2011, and referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

This legislation would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2810 East Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, Florida, as the “Reverend Abe Brown Post Office Building.”

According to an article published in the Tampa Bay Times, Reverend Brown was “a ‘preacher teacher,’ a pastor and an educator, a coach and a civic leader, with one common denominator: helping others succeed.”

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
