Purpose:This three-day symposium will showcase cutting edge forensic science research being performed at NIST. Attendees will learn how NIST's world-class laboratories and staff support many forensic science disciplines. See how material scientists, metrologists, analytical chemists, biological scientists, computer scientists, and forensic science practitioners work together to address the challenges facing the forensic science community and where NIST is going next. Agenda:NIST is providing access to immeasurable information at no cost to you. The Forensics@NIST 2012 Symposium will be held on November 28-30, 2012 (8:30AM – 5:00PM). To ensure optimum utilization of this opportunity, attendees are asked to sign up for only the specific days they plan to attend which will allow NIST to provide access to as many attendees as possible. This Symposium will feature over 45 lecture presentations and 40 poster presentations by NIST scientists and their collaborators on relevant forensic science projects. Presentations in the following forensic science disciplines will be delivered on these specific days (no registration fee):
Individual presentations and time slots may change due to speaker availability, however the forensic disciplines covered on specific days will not change. In addition, the posters will be displayed during the entire event. Poster authors will be available for questions during the day the relevant forensic discipline is featured. The Symposium will feature access to a limited number of exhibitors related to the forensic science industry. In addition, a deployable forensic laboratory will be on display for attendees to view how forensic science procedures can be executed outside of the traditional fixed crime laboratory environment. Please review the draft agenda before registering for the event and sign up for your specific days of interest. Topic areas include the following and more: November 28, 2012: Forensic Biology/DNA, Firearms/Toolmark Analysis, and Fire Research
November 29, 2012: Trace Analysis/Collection
November 30, 2012: Computer Forensics, Fingerprints & Biometrics, and Multimedia Forensics
